Description

Bluegrass Along the Harpeth is a free, two-day music festival held every fourth weekend in July on the historic Downtown Franklin Town Square in Franklin, TN. It honors Grand Ole Opry stars Sam and Kirk McGee and features live bluegrass bands, instrument and band contests, buck dancing, local crafts, and food vendors. The annual festival is proudly organized and operated by old-time musicians and dancers dedicated to preserving traditional music. The multi-day experience is structured to offer both relaxation and competitive entertainment:

  • Friday Evening (7 PM - 10 PM): Features live performances from top regional bluegrass bands.
  • Saturday (9 AM - 10 PM): Highlights a highly anticipated fiddler's jamboree where musicians compete in individual instrument and band contests, alongside traditional Appalachian flat-foot and freestyle dance competitions.
  • Vendors & Amenities: Features craft booths and food trucks lining the square. Proceeds from the event benefit the Williamson County Cultural Arts Commission

Because the event takes place outdoors, guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, portable fans, and sunscreen. Alcohol is strictly prohibited on-site, making this a family-friendly cultural experience.
